Forever Manchester Sky Dive…

Fulfilling a long-time ambition, Our Lisa is going to be launching herself out of a plane this summer! Through the Sky Dive, in aid of Forever Manchester Lisa aims to raise £250 for causes around our local community. You can donate to this great cause via www.justgiving.com/Lisa-Woodsmith

This Christmas...

...we have opted to support local charities rather than sending cards, we hope you understand. We aren’t looking for donations, the team here are working on that, but we wanted to share our festive video with you. Throughout December, we have been collecting donations for Barnabus, Wood Street Mission and Whitechapel Mission. These are great charities who work really hard to help the homeless and vulnerable within our communities and we are proud to support them. Read more about the charities here.

Lukeki has returned from One Young World 2013 summit

After our intense One Young World competition in which Lukeki was announced our One Young World delegate. Lukeki attended the One Young world summit in Johannesburg in October. Lukeki has returned inspired and ready to lead our High5ives activity in 2014. You can read her blog here to find out how she got on.

One Young World

Some of our bright young stars are competing for the chance to attend the One Young World summit in 2013 by creating their own initiatives for social good. The initiative with the most votes will then lead our high5ives activity in 2014. Find out more and place your vote.

He’s done it!

Huge congratulations to Tim, London General Manager at LYNX, who raised over £10,000 by completing the Marathon des Sables…and you helped him! Not only through your donations – massive thank you for them all, but also by monitoring his progress; “knowing people were watching on the tracker meant that I felt guilty if I stopped for too long!” Read more from Tim in the latest blog post.

Keep on Running...

Our next big High5ives challenge involves a total of 300km! Only this time it’s the collective efforts of 30 people running the Bupa Great Manchester Run. Whilst the majority of our limber LYNXs are embarking on group runs after work on a Thursday, Tom Wordley, Healthcare Wordsmith, has embarked on the very technical technique of “tapering”; “It starts with doing nothing and now it’s tapered into more nothing.” Donations can be made at our High5ives JustGiving page, (Mr. Wordley might just break into a jog for £1,000), with all money going to the Motor Neurone Disease Association. Keep a look out for the #High5ives coverage of the event!

Little LYNXs win on the pitch

Urmston Meadowside Panthers Under 10s Girls – our little LYNXs – played fantastically this season. The girls topped their football league, Division 2, remaining unbeaten and without conceding a single goal. This resulted in a place in the League Cup Final against Altrincham Girls Finches at Sale Rugby Club. The Panthers went on to win the match 5-3, which was a fantastic way to end an amazing season. Good luck next season girls and congratulations from all of us at LYNX!

Leanne’s living below the line

For one week Leanne, Account Director at LYNX Europe, is aiming to survive on less than £1 a day to raise money and awareness for the 1.4 billion people who live in extreme poverty across the world. James’ challenge

So, whilst our LYNX action man takes a break, James Young, Account Executive at LYNX Europe, decided to step up to the plate – quite literally! James’ Lunch Bistro had Manchester LYNX’s flocking for fodder – with the tagline “Remember, heaven is just a sandwich away!” who wouldn’t?! Every Thursday people indulged in edible bliss as James prepared his speciality sandwiches for a small fee. All money went to James’ marathon effort and raised over £1,000 for AMREF. James ran the 26 miles dressed as “Where’s Wally” and was spotted by the MEN photographers! Congratulations James!

More sandwiches

The rest of us at LYNX have also been busy making sandwiches for local charity Barnabus who help the homeless of Manchester. We are looking forward to embarking on more work with this great cause.
